Couples from different religious and cultural backgrounds face unique challenges when putting together a wedding. So did Carrie and Sundeep when they planned their American – Indian multicultural destination wedding in Punta Cana. Indian weddings are traditionally multi-day affairs, and involve many intricate ceremonies, such as the painting of the hands and feet of the bride called a mehndi. Garlands are presented to guests of honor instead of corsages, and lots of flower or rose petals are thrown for good luck. This Indian wedding Punta Cana was no different.

How does one blend the colorful exuberance and extended ritual of Indian weddings with the tidy elegance of an American wedding? Well, my humble opinion is that Carrie and Sundeep did excellent job with their wedding. It was a two-day celebration of love and happiness with many of their family members and friends present. Bear in mind that this was a destination wedding, with having almost 100 people present, gives you information about just how much the bride and the groom are loved. Truly, I can personally testify, they are very kind and lovable people.

Indian wedding Punta Cana celebration started with henna tattoo, famous Mehndi, for the girls at Hyatt Ziva Rooftop Terrace. Mehndi represents the bond of matrimony; it signifies the love and affection between the couple and their families. Also, a fun-filled, nostalgic sit-down for the bride, her cousins, siblings, friends, aunts and others is perfect to put everyone into marriage mood. Carrie also prepared bangles for her bridal squad. An absolute must for every Indian bride, Gold, glass, diamond-studded, sparkling bracelets with the tinkling sound they make when they are worn is reminiscent of the laughter that marks the joy of a wedding day. There were signature cocktails, handmade cookies with bride and groom names and Maang Tikka’s for everyone. Later afternoon of the same day, was greeted with an awesome welcome party – Sangeet. Sangeet was held in gorgeously elegant Hyatt Ziva Salon complimented with tropical touches to match the main wedding theme. The bride and the groom as well as many of the guests wore traditional clothes and they all were an absolute pleasure for the eyes. Elegant welcome dinner followed up with incredibly fun party.

The Indian wedding Punta Cana day started with bride and groom’s preparation. The bride started in the Hyatt’s Bridal suite, hair and makeup sessions was interrupted only with laughter and champagne bottles popping. The groom had his own goo’s squad back in Hyatt Zilara Presidential suite. Wedding ceremony was on Ziva Beach with absolutely breathtaking lush gazebo adored with fresh tropical leaves. Carrie and Sundeep hired artist to do a live painting out of their ceremony right there on the spot as it happened. How incredible is that?

Cocktail hour and the wedding reception was at the Larimar Garden and it was out of this world! Everything planned to the smallest details. Seating plan, custom made cake topper, glass tropical leaves with names as escort cards, live band, starlight dance floor and cold fires for the first dance, to name just a few. No need to mention, that the dancing part of the party started with Dominican Carnival dancers and ended up with everyone dancing deep into the night…

If you’ve never considered a tropical destination resort for your wedding venue, Samantha and Robert’s romantic Hyatt Ziva Zilara wedding day will encourage you to think even more about it. First Hyatt chain hotel in Dominican Republic (opened December 2019) Hyatt Ziva a modern, chic resort in Punta Cana on the east cost of the Dominican Republic was the perfect picturesque location for their big day.

Samantha’s floral lace wedding gown fit in beautifully in the tropical surroundings, the groomsman wore khaki suits and the bridesmaids were in navy dresses accompanied with beautiful bouquets made of white Lilies, coral and navy roses and blue thistles.

Ceremony was held under Ziva gazebo, officiated by Hyatt Ziva Zilara weddings officiant and was spiced up with couple’s personal vows that were both very emotional and funny.

All the stress of destination wedding planning melted away when they stood in front of a lot of their family and friends on the shore of tropical paradise playa Juanillo, Cap Cana and said their promises to each other.

The reception was at partly covered open air terrace, overlooking the ocean and amazing pools with hotel building in the background. Amazing DJ Makuto was in charge of very lit entertainment that went on until late night hours. Everyone had so much fun, kids included! As for the adults only entertainment, there was an open bar and rich flavors of Los Duenos cigars, made in Dominican Republic with famous tobacco originating from this Caribbean area.
