The whole space fits very naturally with the Kukua style: romantic, relaxed, a little rustic, a little boho, and very Caribbean.

We also love that the getting-ready part of the day feels connected to the rest of the wedding. The bride is not getting ready in a random hotel room that has nothing to do with the style of the venue. She is already inside the world of Kukua. The colours, textures, mirrors, furniture, and feeling of the room all match the wedding atmosphere.

Best Timeline for a Kukua Wedding

Every wedding is different, but here is a realistic timeline that works well for many Kukua weddings.

• 12:00 pm – 3:30 pm: Getting ready photos and video
  Details, dress, rings, makeup, finishing touches, candid moments, champagne, robe photos, bride with bridesmaids, groom preparation.
• 4:30 pm – 5:00 pm: Venue details and guest arrival
  This is when photo and video can capture the ceremony setup, reception decor, before guests enter, flowers, tables, signage, and guests arriving.
• 5:00 pm – 5:30 pm: Ceremony
  The exact time depends on sunset and season.
• 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm: Cocktail hour, Family photos and Couple portraits
  Cocktail hour starts right after the ceremony. While guests enjoy drinks and appetisers, we begin family photos with the couple. As soon as each group finishes their photos, they can continue to the cocktail hour. Once family photos are done, we take the couple for portraits around Kukua and the beach for about 30 to 40 minutes.
• 6:30 pm – 10:00 pm or later: Reception
  Entrances, first dance, dinner, speeches, parent dances, cake, party, and night portraits.

This is only a sample, but it gives you an idea of how the day can flow.

Our main advice: do not make the timeline too tight. Kukua is a venue where you want to enjoy the atmosphere. Give yourself breathing room.

How Many Hours of Photo and Video Coverage Do You Need at Kukua?

For most Kukua weddings, we usually recommend enough coverage to include getting ready, ceremony, family photos, couple portraits, reception details, speeches, first dance, and at least part of the party.

For smaller weddings, 6 hours can sometimes work if the timeline is simple and you do not need much getting-ready coverage.

For full weddings with decor, emotional moments, speeches, dances, and party coverage, 8 hours is usually a better fit.

If you have a larger guest count or a big bridal party, consider adding a second photographer or videographer. This allows us to capture both sides of the story at the same time: bride and groom preparation, different ceremony angles, guest reactions, cocktail hour, reception details, and dance floor moments.

Kukua weddings often have beautiful decor, and we always want enough time to photograph the reception before guests enter. Those details are part of the story. You spent time choosing them. The Kukua team spent time creating them. They deserve to be captured properly.

Rain Plan at Kukua

Nobody wants to think about rain, but in Punta Cana, a good rain plan is part of smart planning.

The nice thing about Kukua is that the venue has covered options, including the palapa. This gives couples more flexibility if the weather changes.

And to be honest, some of the most emotional weddings we have photographed had a little rain somewhere in the day. Rain does not ruin a wedding when the venue knows how to respond. What matters is having a team that can adjust quickly, keep guests comfortable, and protect the flow of the event.

Is Kukua Good for Large Weddings?

Yes, Kukua can work beautifully for larger weddings, especially because the venue is private and designed for events. For very large weddings, Kukua can also install a big tent on the beach, which allows them to host many more guests than their usual reception area.

For larger guest counts, the main things to think about are timeline, transportation, ceremony layout, dinner flow, and photo/video team size.

With more guests, everything takes a little longer. Moving people, organising family photos, setting the table, speeches, and dancing all need more time. This is normal. It just needs to be planned well.

For weddings with 60+ guests, we often recommend considering a larger photo and video team. One photographer can capture a lot, but two photographers allow for more complete coverage. The same is true for video. With two videographers, the final film usually has more angles, more reactions, and a stronger story.

Kukua weddings often have a lot happening visually: ceremony, beach, decor, cocktail hour, guests, reception, speeches, party, and sometimes entertainment. A bigger team helps capture it all without rushing.

Is Kukua Good for Intimate Weddings?

Also yes.

This is one of the things we like about Kukua. It can feel grand when the wedding is large, but it can also feel warm and personal for smaller weddings.

An intimate Kukua wedding can be very beautiful because the space does not feel cold or empty. The beach, decor, candles, dinner setup, and ocean atmosphere still create a full experience. Smaller weddings also give couples more time with each guest and often more relaxed photo opportunities.

Even with a smaller guest count, Kukua can still feel special because the venue is not just about size. It is about design and atmosphere.
