Margaret and Linh destination wedding at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Margaret and Linh wanted to keep their destination wedding simple. They picked colors that looked nice on the wedding party and be complimentary with the beach. Also, they picked decor from the resort’s vendor and they did a fantastic job. Margaret said: “We did not want too many decorations, because the scenery was beautiful.” For DIY they’ve made a canvas sign for “video guestbook” (which was so cute on wedding video!) and they customized centerpieces. They added childhood photos to our centerpieces and guests had fun guessing who was who. The parents and older relatives really loved these photos the most.

They said that the most special moment of their wedding day was their vows. They both were so nervous that they couldn’t stop crying!

This is a short story about their proposal: “We met through friends and immediately hit it off after one look at one another. The proposal was so thoughtful! On one of our first dates, we met up for drinks and it happened to be my birthday. He stopped by a gas station to buy random little gifts like a ring pop, cupcake, bubble gum, and little girl hair clips. Although they were silly, I absolutely loved the gesture. The day he proposed it was my birthday. I came home from work and walked up to our apartment. We live on the third floor, so at each floor on the stairs he placed a balloon attached to a gift: ring pop, cupcake, bubble gum and hair clips. When I came into the apartment there was a wall of balloons at the entrance I had to walk through. On the other side he was standing there in a suit with a camera set up recording. It. Was. Perfect.”

And Margaret’s words of advice for the future brides planning their wedding day: “Plan with intention. Don’t make decisions just because. Make decisions based on why you want things a certain way and know what is important to you. Don’t let small things upset you. To us, our wedding was a celebration and the once in a lifetime chance to gather all our closest family and friends on a group vacation. We decided in the very beginning what was important to us and how much we were willing to spend. So, during the entire wedding planning, we continuously checked in with one another and gave constructive feedback. We did not care about real flowers or luxurious decor. We picked things that made it look beautiful, yes, but we put a large portion of our budget into photography and videography, because we knew those memories would be the most valuable to us. And now that we got all our photos and videos – we are so glad we did!”
