Located in the province La Altagracia, in the east region of the Dominican Republic, Macao Beach is labeled one of the top Caribbean beaches.
30 km away from the airport and 20-minute drive north of Bavaro Beach, it is very close to the all-inclusive resorts in Uvero Alto and Arena Gorda.
This long and wide beach is often mentioned as the most beautiful beach in Punta Cana and for a good reason – stark crystal turquoise sea, fine-grained most gentle hue of gold sand, perfect picturesque tropical beach stretching as far as eyes can see as it seems, lined by tall coconut trees. To the far-right end there is a small calm bay with beautiful rugged cliffs and little fishing boats, known as “lanchas”. It is safe to say that everything on this beach is very “Instagrammable” and absolutely picture-perfect place, which is why Macao beach is every photographer dream come true place! For both, Trash the dress sessions and couple photo shoots, Macao is by far favorite spot for many wedding photographers in the area. Another bonus, since is so big it’s almost never crowded.
Macao Beach is one of the few beaches in Punta Cana that doesn’t have a coral reef, which gives a good reason for surfers to fall in love with this place. There is a quite famous surf school in the middle of the beach where you can often see surfers enjoy the waves and couple of local food vendors where you can try famous Dominican specialties such as Tostones – green plantain chips or get refreshed with ice cold beer.
